Perch is a fish that is found almost everywhere. Despite its pretty motley-striped appearance, the perch is an avid predator, its diet includes any living organisms found in the reservoir (larvae of beetles, dragonflies and other insects, worms, small roach, bleak, gudgeon).
In April, almost all fishing gear are suitable for catching perch (spinning, float or bottom fishing rods (feeder), trolling, fly fishing, plumb bob). You can catch perch throughout the year, but do not forget to take into account the characteristic features for each pore. It is very exciting and reckless to catch the striped predator in the second month of spring - April.
As soon as the temperature of water in rivers and ponds reaches 6 -7 degrees at the perch spawning begins, occurring in late March - early April. The larvae hatching from eggs actively feed on phyto- and zooplankton, a little time later, the grown fry begin to eat various insect larvae, and only then does the young predator begin the real hunt for small fish (sometimes he does not spare even his smaller cousins). The habitats of perch are determined, first of all, by the presence of basic food - fry, small fish. And since these numerous flocks, depending on the season, move throughout the reservoir, it means that the perch has to constantly move for prey. After spawning, the perch is in no hurry to leave the shallow bays and backwaters overgrown with grass and reeds, since it is here that you can well feed on spawning white fish.
It is not practical to use a boat for fishing perch in April, because casting lures over long distances due to the large current does not give the desired results. In spring, perch is well caught from the shore using the most ordinary fishing gear (spinning, float fishing rods, bottom tackle). Hunting the fry, he pushes them to the surface, which gives the impression of the particular activity of the perch in the upper layers of the reservoir. However, as a rule, in spring, perch is mainly caught at the bottom in places with a slow flow and a depth of more than one meter. Since small perch is well taken near the shore (from 3 to 5 meters), a fishing rod equipped with a thin strong fishing line with a diameter of 0.25 mm, a leash of 0.17 mm, hooks No. 5-6 and a small and sensitive float is suitable for fishing . This size of the fishing line is most optimal in order to quickly pull the fish out of the water and not scare the rest, and as for the perch, it does not take special care during biting. When catching perch in April in water with a slow flow, the nozzle should be at the bottom, with an uneven and grassy topography of the bottom, it is kept on weight. The bite of a perch is accompanied by a smooth immersion of the float under water, after which it should be done immediately. The main bait at this time of year is earthworms and dung worms. The use of bait when fishing for April perch is not required - the fish, starved for winter and spawning, take well without bait.
Large specimens of perch are most often found in deeper parts of water bodies. In these cases, spinning gear is used. To catch perch in April, lightweight compact medium-hard rods of the light class up to 2.1 m long are selected. They are equipped with a compact inertialess reel, which allows for easy descent and reeling of the fishing line. As artificial baits, it is better to use ten-centimeter twisters, vibro-tails, wobblers. In April, three-, five-centimeter spinning spinners with yellow or silver petals showed themselves well when catching a trophy perch. Posting at an average speed is carried out in the bottom layer near the bushes, last year's reeds, flooded snags.
