The article talks about how to catch chekhony in the spring on an elastic band. What baits are used, how to properly tackle tackle. What is important to pay attention to when choosing a place for catching sabrefish.

In the spring, activity wakes up in many fish of our reservoirs, however, despite this, it is most interesting to catch a czechon in this period, which goes to spawn in huge shoals. You can catch chekhon using various gears throughout the day. Most often, anglers opt for an elastic band. This tackle has many advantages. The spring zhor chekhony is not lasting for only a few weeks, after which the activity of the fish for some time drops and resumes only three weeks after spawning. You can catch a chekhon using an elastic band throughout the open water season.

How to prepare tackle for catching sabrefish

So, the gum is made according to the principle of a throwback, the only difference is that our tackle is understaffed with an elastic band, the length of which is from 5-8 meters (depends on the casting distance).

The line is often used with a cross section of 0.3 mm, wound it on a reel. An elastic band is tied to the base of the fishing line through a plastic button, to which, again, through the same button, a piece of ordinary linen rope 1-1.5 meters long with a load. About half a meter backs away from the junction of the gum and the fishing line, and the leashes begin to attach. The distance between the leads is 0.5 meters, provided that the length of the leads does not exceed 20 cm. For the manufacture of leads, a fishing line with a cross section of 0.15-0.18 mm is perfect. The number of leads 3-9 pieces, optimally 5-6.

As for the hooks, for the gum on which it is planned to catch a chekhon, it is better to choose dark options with a short forearm. An excellent choice would be hooks manufactured by Japanese company Owner No. 4.

It is important to note that the length of the Hungarian gum is determined based on the casting distance. Note that it stretches 1 to 2-3 meters, so if you have to catch at a distance from the coast to 40 meters, then at least 15 meters of the “Hungarian” are set on the tackle.

How to catch a chekhon on an elastic band

The most difficult thing is to cast a heavy load of gum. This can be done by hand or, which is much easier and more convenient to get tackle on a boat, unless of course it is available. After the gum is installed, we remove the hooks from the water. It is important to note that this procedure should be done with extreme caution, if the fishing line gets off your hands, then due to the stretching of the elastic band, the hooks will quickly go to their original point.

After the toga, as the tackle will be pulled out, it is recommended that the fishing line be tied through a loop to a thick peg pre-installed on the shore, after which you can begin to attach the bait to the hooks. When all the hooks are bait, carefully remove the loop from the peg and slowly release the fishing line. The advantage of fishing with an elastic band is that the bait hooks are always in the same place after each cast.

The chekhon's bite is sharp, it is simply impossible not to notice it, moreover, it occurs almost immediately after the hooks stop. Therefore, it is not necessary to use various bite signaling devices, it will be enough to squeeze the fishing line between the fingers, as soon as the chekhon swallows the bait, several strong jerks will follow, which indicates that it is time to perform hand-brushing. After catching the fish, the bait on the hooks is updated, and the tackle goes to its original place.

How to identify a promising place for catching sabrefish

So, it is important to know that Chekhon loves only spacious areas with a solid sandy or clay bottom. Places with abundant underwater vegetation, this fish avoids. You should always stop your choice in areas with a strong, but not violent current. The best place for catching chekhon is considered to be sites several tens of meters from the rapids.

In addition to Chekhony, roach, podust or bream may also be interested in bait. Great and deep bays are a great place to fish. It is important to note that casting tackle is necessary with the expectation that the hooks will be at least 35 meters from the coast.

It’s not worth looking for a sabrefish in the coastal zone, it sails extremely rarely to the coast, if you manage to meet it near the coast, then only at the areas of the exits from the bay and provided that the bottom is perfectly clean. Note that an excellent place for fishing is the area immediately beyond the wall of vegetation, but no closer than 5 meters from it.

What are the lures used to catch sabrefish

Regardless of the fishing period, maggot is the best bait for the sabrefish. In addition, you can successfully catch the sabrefish using dung worms or crawls that are mounted on the hook in small pieces.

Chekhon well also includes various varieties of vegetable lures, for example, barley, steamed corn, and mastic. It is important to note that regardless of the type of bait used, the hook tip should be hidden - this will increase the chances of success.
