Wintergill fishing

Winter rudd is not so rare as it might seem at first glance. And with the approach of spring, the appearance of rudd in the catches of fishermen is already becoming a common occurrence. But often in the middle of winter, during long thaws, very similar to early spring, the rudd from the ice also pecks. Moreover, individuals come across rather large if a catchy place is found, when choosing which factors such as attachment of rudd to vegetation and dislike for the fast flow should be taken into account. In winter, there is little vegetation, and if there is, then most often it is a thicket of dry reeds, where the rudd on the dump in the depths likes to stand. Also, productive winter fishing sites can be called “spots” among the pits, rising from the depths in the form of small shallow water, overgrown with bottom vegetation and along the edges of river mollusks inhabited by colonies. They usually catch with bare hands, and freeze in the morning. Therefore, in winter fishing, you must have a heating pad with you.

Fishing rod

In the dead of winter, a fishing rod will be more successful than a mammoth tackle. A careful fish avoids large and moving lures at this time. This spring, on the last ice, they will be interested in rudd most.

The simplest winter fishing rod for fishing with a float rod is the so-called “filly”, where the foam handle is also a reel, where the equipment is wound.

What are the advantages of such a fishing rod ">

Firstly, do not remove the float from the fishing line. The equipment is easily wound around a rather voluminous reel. This is convenient when transferring gear from hole to hole. To hook such a fishing rod is also convenient. The handle is made on the arm, and the whip is quite long - about 30 cm. In addition, the fishing rod stays stable on ice.

Conventional gear is used in the thaw, that is, the layout of the snap-in elements is the same as on the summer fishing rod: a hook, a sinker above it, and then a float. Moreover, additional sets of sinkers are not used on the sub-float and under the float. The float is on the surface of the water in the hole.

During frosts, you should choose a float equipment, where the float is below the freezing water level and floats below the surface only during bite. And this is achieved by adjusting the gear, where in addition to the sinker at the hook on the fishing line a combination of sinkers is dialed. When the fish lifts a hook with a nozzle and sinker above the bottom, the float floats. Usually, fishing rudd is not used float tackle with a diverting leash, because they catch this fish in places of slow-moving, without current or with a weak current.

During the middle of winter, the equipment for the rudd should be thin, the fish still careful. Therefore, monophilic fishing line with a diameter of 0.12 mm and a leash of 0.1 mm can be chosen as the main one . Putting a thinner fishing line is risky, since ruddles often weigh up to a kilogram. The hook is also tied not the smallest - number 4 of the Russian numbering.

Winter bait and nozzles for rudd

As bait and baits for catching rudd in the winter, the following are used: bloodworms, worms, larvae of burdock moth and Chernobyl, bread, dough that smells of honey and anise. Maggot is also of interest to rudd, but not everywhere.

Redfin is fed with the same winter bait as roach. If you do bait with your own hands, you can add fish dry food, fish oil, and most importantly, the bait that the fish are currently fishing for, and this is most often bloodworm, in the mixture of “Salapino porridge”, breadcrumbs and cake.

Catching rudd on mormyshka

In winter, for fishing rudd with bait, it is best to use a float winter fishing rod, as I wrote above. Mormyshka with a bloodworm, most likely, will not cause fish interest, although this statement is not true for all places. Nevertheless, sometimes unwinding mormyshki can furnish both a bobber and mormyshki with bait. This happens during prolonged thaws in fishing on fairly deep plateaus of the Cheboksary reservoir. Various “nail balls” are considered to be catchy mormyshki, clumsy, where the ball can also be luminous.

For fishing, choose balalaika fishing rods with a spring-type nod, 0.12 mm fishing line and, as already mentioned, “nails”, besides this and “nail-cloves” rewindings.

The technique of fishing consists in a smooth game of mormyshka, which turns into a fast game with a lift, where the role of a pause at the top point is important.

In winter you have to look for rudd, to drill a lot of holes. Therefore, without a good ice drill, especially on raw ice, there is nothing to do (read about choosing an ice drill).
