Tips for catching ide in winter:
1. The benefits of tandem
2. Choosing a fishing site
3. Bait and bait
4. The game
Recently, in the manufacture of mormyshka by casting with their own hands, more and more often an additional eyelet is installed on the bait. Then, at the place of fishing, one of the additional accessories of the equipment is attached to it on a short leash: a petal, a fly, an imitation of a nymph, or even a simple hook with beads or cambric. Such a tandem sometimes gives an excellent result, especially when catching an ide. The second artificial bait can join the mormyshka through a swivel. When playing, spinning, it will create additional acoustic waves that attract fish, which will certainly affect the catch.
Benefits of Tandem Lure for ide in winter
The use of two artificial baits at once when hunting for large fish gives a number of certain advantages. Firstly, tandem-weighted equipment allows you to fish in the stream and at great depths; secondly, two bait of different nature give the fish a choice; thirdly, with good biting, the heavy tandem quickly sinks to the required depth.
To catch ide in winter, and not only it, I use a simple winter tackle for tandem. It consists of a Finnish fishing rod with a handle, a reel with a brake, a tube for skipping fishing line, a nod holder and the main fishing line, to which a removable leash with baits is attached. I equip the fishing rod with a monolithic diameter of 0.18 mm, the stock on the reel is about 20 m. The diameter of the leash is 0.12 mm, and the hook is # 3.5-4. In mormyshka, the sting of the hook should be at an angle of 30-45 ° to the body of the bait in order to better catch the fish. A sufficiently rigid nod with adjustable length, made of a steel conical plate, does not lose elasticity at any temperature, is not afraid of water and numerous bends. The working length of the nod is about 7 cm. After tandem loading, the nod must take an almost horizontal position.
I attach a home-made wet fly to the mormyshka on a leash. I make it like that. I choose a hook No. 3, 5 with a long forearm. On top of the fore-end I put a double yellow woolen thread, the cut ends of which imitate the legs of the front sight. For this, I fasten the threads with silver winding thread, and from the green wool thread I make the body of the fly. I wind a woolen thread round to round with an interval between them of 2 mm. After fixing the loop, I cut off the excess thread with scissors and treat the body with a little varnish. Before dinner, grease the fly with grease.
Of course, you can also use a ready-made suitable fly as an additional bait, but in practice I have not tried it.
Site selection for ide ide in winter
The ide lives in almost all large reservoirs of Russia, except the most northern. This fish is quite large, according to scientific data, some specimens reach a mass of up to eight kilograms and a length of up to 70 cm. Anglers weighing half a kilo are called roaches. An ide is a moving fish, but only in the summer. In winter, ide maintains small flocks in calm waters and in a moderate course, near pools and pits, in areas with sand, gravel, or clay soil, choosing shelters so that the main stream can carry a wide variety of food to them. You can hunt for an ide at the end of winter from early morning until evening. Anglers know how difficult it is to please him with bait. The same fish in different reservoirs prefers to peck on certain nozzles depending on the type of reservoir, food supply, season, day, day. Often, one fisherman here and now ide is caught perfectly, while the other does not have a single bite. We must not give up, but try to understand why the fish do not take, and adapt to the existing conditions.
One day my brother and I came to hunt for ides on one of the small rivers of the Moscow Region - Nerskaya, not far from Voskresensk. In winter, a river covered with snow cannot be recognized if you used to fish here only in summer. We outlined the approximate site of fishing in the fall, and now we were guided by a small coastal ledge and an old tree with interwoven roots that impeded the erosion of the shore by water. A snag was located at the bottom near the edge, and a large boulder appeared in the sand on the ground. We found this stone quickly with an echo sounder, despite the thick layer of ice. Winterfishermen know very well how difficult it is to navigate in a pond when choosing a fishing spot without information about the bottom topography. You can only take it a bit away from the desired site, and the bait may not work, especially when hunting for an ulcer. We drilled three holes at once: two - on the “patch” behind the boulder, at a depth of slightly more than 3 m, and one - on the dump in depth.
Bait and bait
We use the bait necessarily, lower it into the hole in the form of balls, the size of a small apple. The bait includes Unicorm winter, the bloodworm is preferably small, chopped worms, ground crackers, crushed greens, milk powder, and for better gluing, ground hercules flakes. All this is mixed with river sand. Water - as needed.
As a nozzle on the hook of the mormyshka, we use the dragonfly larva.
In winter, ide ideals in small flocks in calm waters and in a moderate course, near whirlpools and pits, in areas with sand and gravel or clay soil. You can hunt for an ide at the end of winter from early morning until evening.
The bite of the ide usually occurs at the moment of separation from the bottom of the second artificial bait and after a couple of seconds of “trembling”.
Jerks must be done sharply with a rise to a height of about 9-12 cm, with pauses of 3-6 seconds, and raise to a height of half a meter. The amplitude of the oscillations is small and depends on the speed of the current and the depth of fishing. In our case, the oscillation frequency is in the range of 90-110 per minute.
The disadvantage of fishing in tandem is that if, after biting and hooking, a large fish rushes to the side, the second hook can catch on any obstacle, and this threatens to lose not only your catch, but also the bait. An annular release will help from the hooks, and a hook will help to pull the fish out of the hole.

When fishing in tandem, any other large fish that lives in a pond can peck, and the fisherman needs to be prepared for this.
