Spring roach on feeder

In the article I will tell you about the search for roach fishing places in the spring on the feeder and about preparing bait for spring roaches.

For catching roach in spring in a strong current, the most suitable gear can be called a feeder. It is the combination of a heavy load-feeder and the ability to attract fish with bait that is the main advantage of the English donka. And before this sophisticated, scrupulous tackle, the Russian fisherman did not get bored, adapting something like a “string bag” full of breadcrumbs to the open-air condos. And she took fish! How did you take it! .. Every now and then, the bells were shaking and strumming the bells on the hooks and fishing rods from the furious bites of the spring shrovetide (roach). Coming to the surface and flashing with a silver side, almost kilogram tracks fell into the landing net, and then they unclenched the fisherman’s palm with a strong body, mowing an eye with a scarlet rainbow, and then fought in the cage, raising sheaves of spray. That time has passed. And it’s not always possible now to get on the reckless biting of large roach-sorogi during the spring course. But the more subtle and catching tackle, which is the feeder, gives you a better chance of success.

In Russia, depending on the spring, rivers sometimes open early. This often happens right after gray windy days with icy snow pellets or drizzling cold rains, when suddenly the sun comes out due to cotton clouds, a warm wind blows, raising the first light dust. And when this weather becomes constant - it's time. The water temperature in the rivers warmed up during these warm days to 10-15 degrees. And that means the roach has gone ... Although, of course, there are other factors that affect the course of the fish. And for the success of the fisherman, Madame Luck is also required ...

Having found the edge, you need to fix the fishing line in the clip of the reel. It is better to do this with the help of an elastic band so that there is no jerk off of the feeder, that is, with an elastic band to intercept the fishing line and insert the ends of the elastic into the clip. You can make a mark on the fishing line with a white marker. This will be the desired casting length in order to feed this point. The casting direction is remembered by reference on the opposite bank of the river.

Roach lure

It is advisable to start by making several empty casts with a looser bait to create a feeding spot at the bottom. Then you can proceed to the fishing itself. It is understood that the bait was already thoroughly mixed and water with some flavorings and syrups was added to it. The bait can be a ready-made feeder mixture from well-known companies. This is a lazy version, so to speak, maybe rational, but without a creative approach.

But sometimes home-made bait is no worse than the branded one. As a basis, ordinary breadcrumbs with the addition of corn flour, barley grits, semolina, bran, cake or lightly toasted and ground seeds are taken. You can add ground cookies or gingerbread cookies to create a biscuit taste and smell. The binding components will be semolina and wheat flour. This dry mix is also mixed with the addition of water directly during fishing. You can take a little undercooked millet porridge with you as a filler. The feeder bait for fishing on the course should be viscous, which will give porridge. Powdered milk is very suitable for creating an attractive cloud of mixture.

In any bait, you must always add a certain amount of nozzle or bait, which is used for fishing. In the spring, dung worms and maggot are most often used for catching roach, and you can plant an artificial maggot so that the hook does not empty when the bait is sucked by a trifle. The bait will not hurt to dip in the dip or spray, for example, garlic dip.

Heavy rods with a powerful reel and heavy feeders from 70 to 250 grams are best suited for catching roaches in the spring.
