Tackle, equipment and selection of fishing spots. How to catch perch and pike on live bait using a fishing rod and circles. Pleasant surprises on old rivers in the form of trophy pikes under 5-10 kg!
Often there are times when artificial baits are completely ignored by predatory fish. In such periods, live bait is the favorite - natural food of a predator.
Catching perch on live bait with float tackle
In late autumn, you can often encounter a very weak bite of various kinds of fish, but the ubiquitous perch is active until the freezing, offering an interesting catch for small fish. Successful fishing begins with the extraction of this particular bait. As experienced fishermen say: "I caught the fry - I caught perch."
As a rule, bait fish are mined as a small painter in various shallow sections of the reservoir, mainly near islets of grass, where the top favorite by the predator likes to stay, and a small roach is also defended there. A small carp is also suitable, which you can easily pick up in the same ditches, in small ditches and quarries. In cold water, it is very tenacious, movable on a hook, which is so liked by perch, which, in contrast to pike, prefers brisk bait.
Tackle for perch fishing
If you go to the laundry mostly with flywheel gear, then a match reel rod 4-4.5 is better for a perch, because a perch pack usually does not stand in place, actively moves, and you have to constantly change the casting distance and direction - further, closer, to the left, to the right, and even move from point to point regularly, radically changing places.
A small inertia, fishing line 0.22mm, a leash 0.16-0.20, and a hook - to fit the size of a fry and a fishing predator, also come to the rescue. A float with a lifting capacity of 4-10g, a specific option depending on the casting distance and wind strength. In general, the classic fishing for perch on live bait is often very prey, but, unfortunately, labor. And this is due to the fact that large humpbacks prefer to stay far from the coast, leaving late in the fall in the pits, along with fry. In this case, the boat can help out.
Artisan perchs practice boat fishing on the fry with the same float tackle, but not in casting, but in a row of fun. The equipment is lowered near the boat, tilting the bow of the logger, they sail 10-12 meters from the float, close the bow and slowly go on the oars. If there is a wind, and it coincides with the direction suitable for fishing, then they take it into the allies and simply drift. If you drive the boat too fast, then you can slow down the oars, trying to slow the movement of equipment so that the bait fish does not rise too high from the bottom. Although it happens that even in the fierce cold of the pre-winter, perches are caught halfway, and in the absence of bites at the bottom, it is important to check different water horizons.
After the first bite, it is important to sharply hook and immediately drop the anchor, because this is not a pike path, but a perch flock of fish. Having obtained the first fish, it is important to immediately throw the equipment at the bite point, usually striped come in series. Catching should be done as quickly as possible, as seasoned spinningists do, having run into a dense perch flock. If the boat drifted in a decent wind, then you have to throw it against the wind, for this reason the working descent from the boat to the float is initially done no more than 12 m, so that later you can throw it at the same small distance. Although the nibble of the perch at one point does not last long, as a rule, 3-5 fishes go and everything fades. In this case, it is necessary to continue the active search for perch schools.
It happens, in the midst of fishing, when the perch is found, the stock of live bait is running out. For such cases of force majeure, experienced fishermen try to keep a couple of winter fishing rods in stock for vertical shearing, and then you can continue to successfully catch the striped, equipping the fishing rod with a small balancer or vertical lure. But the malek still works more reliably.
Fishing for pike
On the eve of winter, on many rivers and lakes, the autumn zhor of pikes comes to naught, and many spinningists go fishing with a live bait-fishing rod. Moreover, they prefer not to stretch the fry forcibly, forcibly stopping the course of the float with a rod, and not along coastal lodges with practically stagnant water, namely into the wiring, letting out equipment along deep reaches with an even flow, along the backwaters, controlling the course of the float with short arms, keeping the fishing line in tightness.
Where the jets are complex, multidirectional, on the contrary, giving a slight slack, they let the float float freely, avoiding much sagging fishing line and strong tension, working as a reel. The coil is usually inertial (such as "Nevsky"), it’s easier to work and control the fishing line with it, slowing down and releasing it. The fishing rod is suitable for a length of 6m, so long it is more convenient to work with equipment, choosing, if necessary, more fishing line above the water. Fishing line 0.3-0.32mm. Float - goose feather with styrofoam olive. A weight of about 5g. A small tee hooks a roach on the back. The leash is braided with a braid of two or three pieces of braid 0.16-0.19mm. It turns out to be somewhat thicker, but elastic, and most importantly - the pike takes fearlessly, and there are no snacks with such a leash.
It is worth noting that catching pike on live bait fish exactly in the wiring is not an end in itself, but an established strategy, which has two significant advantages over stationary fishing. Firstly, when the fry is fused with the stream, the pike attacks it much more readily. Secondly, predator sites are faster, because quite vast areas of the water area are quickly caught. You can float both in the open water area of the channel and along the wall of an impassable coastal shrub, making a very long wiring - within the visibility of the float.
From the open steep shore they catch a little differently. Throw equipment across the stream, lift the fishing line going to the float with a fishing rod, and allow it to float freely. They do not give fishing line from the reel, but follow along the shore somewhat behind, so as not to frighten off the pike. You shouldn’t make sudden movements, stomp too much, the pike then lets you close, even if the coast is completely clean and there’s nothing to hide.
Catching pikes on old-river mugs
On the eve of the freeze-up, many pleasant river surprises in the form of trophy pikes for 5-10 kg are waiting for many river-goers of the circle-maker! The main thing is not to be late, as soon the surface of the water can be tightened with thin ice.
For not very large old rivers, this time is especially valuable, because in summer and early autumn mainly pike up to 1-1.5 kg comes across, but from the second half of autumn the sizes of predators begin to please, and the colder the water, the higher the chance to catch this trophy instance.
For the latter, in the open water season, anglers choose flowing old rivers, which do not overgrow in the summer, and it is desirable that the exit to the mother river is also deep enough, not narrow, and it is generally wonderful when a river pit adjoins the entrance - exactly in such old people come in the winter for large river pikes.
Put mugs on the pike near the entrance. You can also launch them according to the very old speech - along quiet backwaters, on a weak stream along the coastal vegetation, where good fish are also found. But in the central and upper sections of the old man, luck usually turns away in late autumn, even if there are interesting dumps, decent depths, white fish trifles are kept a lot - apparently, the large pike does not like to go far into small old men, although the small pike maybe a lot.
In most cases, the ideal bait fish is a medium-sized roach, but another local fry may also be suitable, which can be immediately obtained by a float fishing rod or a suitable size as a small broiler. The ubiquitous small carp, but worse than roaches, also works according to old rivers. And of course, you need a snap of increased reliability and strength with a metal leash, because there can be few bites, often one or two, but the fish is serious and will not forgive mistakes.
