Bait for autumn pike fishing in shallow areas. Ways to post them.
Pike, like any fish, in the fall often goes to shallow places, which warm up faster than deep stretches and pools. Warm yourself in the sun before winter. Then, with established cold weather, the predator will go into the dark depths. In the meantime, pike are free to hunt on the shallows, completely overgrown with grass and warm at this time due to shallow water and closed from the influx of cold waves. And such fishing has its very specific features, as it often happens in the windows and ducts right in the middle of the vegetation.
To catch a pike in such "frogs" you need special tricks and better on a thin fishing line, which gives them a natural movement in the water. The main requirement for baits is that they should not be snagged. And, given that fishing is often carried out in places of silted and often flooded by the fluctuating level of the reservoir, various silicone baits in the form of worms can become successful and productive. Why? This is due to the fact that the pike is often full of worms, as they say, according to the gills, as it actively eats worms crawling out of the flooded lowlands. Probably, in such places pike are kept, adapted to feed on worms, which often happens where there are few small fish and fry in the coastal zone of the reservoir.
For fishing in shallow areas and in “frogs”, the method of fishing, which is known as wacky, has increasingly been used. In the literal translation, veki is interpreted as “stupid worm”, “stupid worm”, which is explained by strange movements of the bait, nevertheless, similar to the convulsive movements of a living worm that fell into the water. Such a “style” of wiring a silicone worm is achieved in a non-standard way of installing it, where the bait is pierced not along, like on an offset hook, but across, like a living worm on a hook. True, here he is not planted with a “stocking”, but left with two freely moving tips. Often such clumsy worms made of silicone cause more interest in a predator than other baits. Various silicone worms are widely used for fishing. Often they are made directly from fishing from vibro-tails and rippers, just cutting off the sagging abdomen and tail at the bait. Edible rubber is usually used as material for lures. Often a very effective way of weki is when an artificial worm falls in a window among vegetation. It looks very natural, as if a living worm had fallen into the grass, convulsively wriggling and sinking to the bottom.
Veki hooks are used large, semicircular. They look a bit like carp hooks. On such special hooks, there is often protection against hooks, as on non-hooked spinners. In addition, there are loaded hooks for fishing for weki. They resemble a light jig head and weigh about 2 g.
The wiring method is jerky, which makes the bait wriggle, go to the bottom, float, in a word, make natural movements for a drowning worm.
For fishing in the grass, other soft, non-hooking baits are also used, the hook of which is recessed in the body of the bait, or rather, in the notch of the vibrotail. Usually offset hooks are used for fishing. In addition, recently, various artificial crustaceans have been used more and more often, which may have the smell and taste of shrimp, crayfish, mackerel, which, oddly enough, causes appetite in domestic pikes ... In addition, baits are highly saturated with salt, since it is also edible silicone, which irritates the taste buds of predators and makes vibro-tails much heavier to the point that when fishing in grass they do not require additional loading. Since such fishing does not need long casts and often is carried over the vegetation, the cargo can be omitted altogether or light weights weighing no more than 3 g can be placed. Moreover, the depth at the place of fishing on the coastal coastline or on grassy shallow river is rarely more meter.
For fishing, a jerking method of posting is usually used - twitching, which makes the bait fall into the windows among the grass, swim with an uneven “gait” in clean gaps and flounder in the grass again. And the gambling pike will not stand it - it will certainly attack the bait ...
