Catching perch in winter at Hogi Hog

What size and color of lures to choose for fishing perch? How to plant and play the bait.

Fishing in the winter traditionally seems like fishing for yellow brass or gilded mormyshka. And also it is most common for winter-time fishermen to catch classic vertical perch spinners with hooked cambric, wool, and bead. In recent years, from the innovations, vertical spinners have acquired freely suspended small tees, on which there is a bright plastic drop. All…

It seems nothing new can be found in catching perch, and is it necessary?

After all, perches are not fussy, unlike capricious bream and roach. If only the bait was relatively bright and active. However, creative thought does not fade away in fishing companies. And now rubber baits have come into being, which have a taste and smell, to which the perch now reacts differently . If a silicone or metal bait, grabbing which and having missed, the fish rather tries to spit it out, then the perch will catch the edible and grab it until it hooks. One of such attractive baits for predators is edible rubber in the form of some kind of made-up insect or crustacean.

Production fishing company Lucky John, known for its creative solutions, this time picked up a key to the secrets of cool fish, inventing strange creatures made of edible silicone. These creatures are like people from horror films or fantasy delights of modern cinema masters. Despite the fact that under natural conditions such insects, crayfish and shrimp simply do not exist, nevertheless, the fish reacts very actively to the appearance of these pseudo-crayfish in the underwater world, which have clearly extra limbs. But they all actively stir under currents of water, which causes excitement not only in perches, but also in pike and even trout on paid ponds. And these baits, called Hogy Hog, often help out very well during weak activity of perch and bad bite, when predators refuse classic spinners.

A distinctive feature of the Hogy Hog lures is that the soft plastic of which these lures are made is represented by 60 percent of the flavoring ingredients, the smells of shrimp, crayfish, fish. In addition, the bait is covered with a layer of oil that mimics the above odors. It is clear that the oil will be washed off during the fishing period, but then the material itself will come into action, retaining the smell until the end of fishing.

Lucky John's perch bait has slightly different sizes than rubber for catching other predators. Measurements are in inches. Hogie Hog for perch - (1.2 inches), for pike, trout and pike perch - (1.6 inches). In addition, these bait from the "edible" are very diverse in colors. And these are about 10 basic colors with various shades. Among them, bright or so-called - aggressive colors stand out. Most often it is red and bright green colors, and then there are variations with halftones and somewhat muffled colors of green, brown and purple colors.

Why so much diversity is needed ">

Catching perch in winter on the baits of Hogi Hog does not require fast active postings, as with mormyshki with a nozzle and especially with rewinds. These invented crustaceans will not be able to show their talents - it is attractive to move rubber tentacles, claws and tails if the speed and amplitude of the mormyshka is large. Therefore, for fishing you need ordinary winter fishing rods with nods of medium stiffness.

These edible rubber baits are planted starting from the pseudo-head, then passing the sting of the hook through the artificial body and leading it into the “abdomen”. Do not choose too small mormyshki with the same small hook. It is better if the hook is even disproportionately large in comparison with the body of the jigsaw. Most often used mormyshki yellow or neutral tones.
