How to flash zander in winter

The article provides a description of catching zander on new generation spinners - 3D.

The taste qualities of pike perch have long been known, especially in aspic for cold. But for the fisherman, in this beautiful, stubborn and strong fish, a worthy opponent is seen, cunning and, oddly enough, smart. Sometimes it remains to think, because the tricks and vagaries of pike perch are not complicated for fishing. It is especially difficult to catch zander in the winter. But this is only at first glance. It’s worth a little study of his habits, habitats, working out methods of foolish fishing and, probably, everything will become simple and understandable.

The main difficulty is to find the fanged. The fact is that winter pike perches in completely different places, in contrast to the open water season. And the time he went on the hunt also often does not coincide with the summer. All these features are experienced. Well, first you need to prepare the tackle. And first of all, you need to pay attention to the fishing rod. Since zander is a strong and stubborn predator, you will need a fishing rod with a strong and tough whip. It should also be longer and thicker compared to whips for perch and pike fishing. This is necessary for sharp and vigorous stripping, as the gnarled mouth is known for its rigidity and impenetrability. Sometimes you even have to do an additional control sweep so that the fish does not come down during the game. And all the same, it happens that as soon as the zander was pulled out of the hole, a bait fell out of its mouth, which the predator simply kept in its mouth.

The fishing reel reel must be strong, with a trigger for discharging fishing line during large-scale prey fishing and a reliable stopper. A nod for catching pike perch is necessary, since a hard fishing rod is not able to convey the moment of biting or touching the bait to the bottom in order to measure the desired depth. Also, a nod serves to give the bait more smooth movements. The optimal deflection of the nod under the weight of the bait is 15-20 degrees. Often they successfully apply a reverse nod, which is bent up and does not extend beyond the whip, and when biting, it often taps the tip of the whip, which is also a bite signaling device. Village simple fishermen often do without nods at all and bite is determined by fishing line on a finger.

Monofil fishing line is most often used for pike perch. The braid is tangled in the wind. The thickness of the fishing line depends on the general structure of the tackle, and primarily on the weight of the lures. Typically, a fishing line is not set thicker than 0.4 mm, but better if it is thinner. To tackle has always been built under the conditions of fishing in this section of the reservoir, it is better to have several interchangeable reels with different fishing lines.

It is believed that the most common lures for catching pike perch are balancers and spinners. Moreover, baubles are used in most cases, vertical, heavier, the so-called gossips, up to the castmaster (we devoted a whole article to the castmaster, read here). All these baits work as before. But now the summer heavy swinging baits of the Japanese company Pontoon21, in particular Paco bait, have also begun to be used. In summer, Paco spinners perfectly catch asp, are used for jigging, and in winter they work no less successfully in zander. Also, new 3D Spoon oscillating baubles began to be used: Sampliora, Sintura. The spinners are named 3D for the ability to look voluminous in water, which is achieved by new technologies for the manufacture of baits. The paint is applied to the spinners in deep pressed perforations according to special patterns. When the gloss from the surface of the spinner and the color of the paint coincide, the same 3D effect is created, which was mentioned earlier. These spinners do not turn into a blinding spot in the sun, and the coating, made by electroplating, consists of natural gold and silver. It is clear that fish takes better on such baits, which has already been tested by more than one generation of anglers. No wonder silver spoons disappeared from the family buffet ...

Balancers are used quite large - from 7 to 9 cm. For catching pike perch, the balancers are somewhat modified by putting a larger hanging tee. This makes the hooking reliable.

For a more diverse work of the balancers, it is advisable to use a sharp, short view of the fishing rod, especially if fishing occurs at a depth of more than 3 meters. Always remember the meaning of the pause in the lower position. Usually it is from 7 to 9 seconds, but it happens that a longer pause brings success. It is on such elongated pauses that the predator's grip follows.

The attack on the balancers zander makes with aggressive excitement, apparently, due to the same aggressive and sweeping game of the so-called horizontal spinners. Zander usually targets the lower hanging tee, on which it is detected.

In addition to spinners and balancers, rattlins are also used to catch pike perch, and quite successfully, but they work at shallow depths.
