How to prepare for fishing pike on the first ice. What you should pay attention to when choosing a place promising for pike fishing. How does pike bite? How to prepare a bait (bait fish) for catching pike in the winter with the use of vents.
With the advent of winter and the appearance of the first ice, many fishermen try to go to the pond as soon as possible, taking with them vents to catch pike. Note that the first ice is the best winter time, since it is possible to get the maximum pleasure from fishing. Why do they use ventilators? It's all about their simple design, reliability and efficiency.
Of course, it should be noted that the success of fishing will depend not only on the availability of gear and the necessary lures, but also on the ability to correctly identify promising places. The determining factor that may affect the result is knowledge of the habits of the pike, its behavior in the winter.
The first gears appeared earlier in small reservoirs, as well as in the coastal part of large reservoirs and lakes, this is due to the fact that it is here that at the beginning of winter the first ice that is safe in thickness appears. When planning to go to a reservoir, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the weather conditions, since they can significantly affect the activity of a predator.
We determine promising places for fishing
So, we immediately note that in winter, even during the period of the first ice, pike is no longer as active as, for example, in autumn or spring. The pike does not move around the water, it prefers to ambush and wait until the food itself approaches it.
Therefore, having come to a pond, the first thing you need to do is pay attention to places at a distance of up to 5 meters from the shore with a depth of two meters. Especially those areas where there are trees fallen into the water. The pike along the first ice will stand next to the thickets of reeds, as well as on the border of the bay.
In the first week, two after the formation of ice, the predator will not be embarrassed by the shallow depth, however, as soon as the frosts intensify and the thickness of the ice begins to grow, it will leave the shallows and shift closer to the edge and pits. Why ">
Of course, it is worth noting the drawbacks of fishing in the coastal zone, the most important one is that a large predator is practically not suitable for such sites, here mainly grass is found, the weight of which barely reaches 2 kilograms. You can catch a trophy specimen if you arrange gear in deep areas, the most promising place will be near the exit from the pit
Having determined a promising place, the arrangement of zergirls is carried out, we note that for fishing on the first ice it is enough to use 10-15 gears, which are set in a chaotic order starting from the shallow shifting to a depth. The distance between the girders is 8-10 meters, if after placement within 1-1.5 hours there are no bites, the first installed gear is removed and transferred to another place, followed by the second, etc.
Be careful while fishing
When the place is determined and the gear is set up, the next important point on which the success of fishing will largely depend on is camouflage. Especially this point should be worried if the gear is placed in areas with a depth of 1.5 meters. Note that pike through thin ice can notice shadows from the movement of the fisherman, this will alert her and may cause him to leave the site.
When performing the hole, it is recommended that the husk be scattered around the hole, it is not superfluous to spill water nearby, it will freeze at a low temperature and form a dull spot. You can mask the holes using dry grass.
In addition, after the arrangement of the vents, it is not recommended without the need to move on ice. It is important to remember that pike do not like noise. Head towards the gear only if it was necessary to rearrange or at the time of bite, which is easy to notice even from a distance of up to 30 meters.
Requirements for the preparation of live bait for fishing for zerlitsa
Almost any small fish available is suitable as live bait, the main thing is that it is caught in the same reservoir in which the pike is caught on the vents. If you look at the question, which fry is better suited, then in the first place the roach, the pike reacts somewhat worse to a ruff and perch.
If it is possible to catch a small crucian, then it can be used as bait, the main advantage of this fish is endurance, after it is put on a hook, and it is recommended to do this by the lips of a male crucian who is able to remain alive and mobile for a long time.
Catching a crucian in winter especially small (which is suitable as live bait) is quite problematic, so it is recommended to stock up on it since the fall (how to solve the bait on the first ice, read here). An excellent live bait is a peskarik, but just note that if you manage to catch him, it will be right to leave him in the late afternoon, as he is very good at catching zander and burbot.
It is very important that the bait fish remains alive to a dead fish, the pike do not readily respond. Keep small fish during fishing in a special container, which you can buy at the fishing store.
Features of biting pike on the zergizka
Noticing the live bait, the pike swims swiftly close to it and grabs it across the body, it is in no hurry to swallow it, it swims from the place of attack to the nearest shelter for at least 3-5 meters. The alarm is triggered immediately at the time of the attack, but it's too early to do a sweep.
The moment of the predator's departure can be observed by unwinding the reel, at some point there is a pause, the pike begins to process the caught live bait, namely it turns it head down and swallows it. The length of the pause will depend on the size of the pike and fry.
Having swallowed the fry, the pike immediately begins to go to a depth or to the side, the reel begins to unwind the fishing line again, it is at this moment that it is necessary to carry out the cutting, but not much, and most importantly not sharply.
There are cases when after biting the line is unwound without a pause, this happens most often when biting a large predator or if small bait was used as bait. In such a situation, the hooking should be performed approximately 20-30 seconds after the alarm is triggered, or we are guided by the intensity of unwinding from the fishing line reel.
During fishing in bad weather, unfavorable for pike, bites occur predominantly sluggish. After the attack, the pike swallows the fry and remains in place, while the signaling device works, but the fishing line from the reel is not particularly unwound before or after biting. In this case, the cut is performed after a short pause, you need to allow the pike to properly swallow the bait with a hook.
After the cut is completed, rushing with the game is not necessary. It will be a mistake if you start to reel the fishing line on your hand when fishing, the pike can tear sharply and if you do not release it in a timely manner, then it can break the main fishing line that is mounted on the tackle.
With extreme caution, you should put the pike in the hole, it should clearly follow the fishing line, as soon as the muzzle appears in the hole, a hook is used that starts the fish under the gills.
