How and where to catch a predator. Pros and cons of sheer boat spinner. At great depths and heavy baits.
Autumn has always been considered a transitional period from summer fishing to ice fishing. Especially - late autumn. But the first half of autumn time already makes its adjustments to the schedule of the fishing season for open water. The predator comes to life, especially the pike. It is during this period that her autumn zhor happens. It lacks bait and zander, only now it is not caught on scythes near the pits, as it was on warm summer nights, but goes into the depths and takes heavy vibrations, jig, jig “turntables” and polyurethane baits.
And the pike is often now caught on the edge of the pits and along the beds of flooded rivers, although its outcrops into grassy shallow waters periodically occur, especially in warm dawns and in the same evenings. Perch is also caught, only now rarely do you see boiling "cauldrons" and a cluster of gulls above them. Like other predators, perch now hunts in deeper places. And take it is not always possible spinning.
For sheer spinning, you can use all the same lures as for spinning fishing. At this time, stepped wiring is often used, for which heavy baits are used. Therefore, fishing rods with heavy swings, castmaster, pilkers, large foam rubber fish, glowing twisters and vibro-tails are suitable for plumbing. For greater depth, fluorescent coated baits are required, which spinningists also use in the fall, especially for catching pike perch at dusk. And you can plummet right up to the period of freezing, then moving from a boat to young ice. Often this transition does not affect fishing performance. There can be only a few days of pause and sluggish indecisive biting. And then, when the predator adapts to the conditions of the fresh water, everything comes back to normal.
Catching off the boat from a boat is very similar to ice-fishing, but it differs in that the fishing is fishing during the drift of the boat, driven by the current or the wind. There are pros and cons to this.
The positive features of fishing from a boat in a plumb line include the possibility of catching a large area of the reservoir in a fairly short time. And on the river, rafting downstream also makes it possible to go through many promising places in the morning. In winter, you have to walk many kilometers on the ice to search and find fish. Well, in the open water season, rafting or drift replaces fishing under the motor or on oars when you need to anchor, and then, after a few bites, take off and move again in search of fish. And, as a rule, two or three bites usually follow in a new place, after which you can not wait for further predator grasping.
There are also disadvantages of such fishing with the flow and wind. If the boat moves too fast, the baits do not play quite correctly, and often quite fake. It also happens that a fast-moving boat elementarily skips catchy places. To reduce the speed of the boat, various types of water "brakes", "sails", "anchors" are used. Sometimes I just put in place of an anchor a load that does not hold the boat in one place, but allows it to move at low speed. To do this, I use a cobblestone or bag filled with sand to the desired volume and weight. The only thing that interferes with such a moving anchor is the coarse sections of the reservoir. For such places, the so-called water sail is better suited, consisting of a square or rectangular frame, weighted with a metal bar, and covered with durable fabric, spandbond or plastic film. To this snap does not hurt to add a float from a plastic bottle or foam. By dropping such a water sail overboard, one can achieve a slowdown and stability of the boat. The water resistance is strong enough to make the craft go twice as slow.
You can catch a plumb line from a regular rubber boat, even a small single one, but such small boats as Progress, Crimea, Voronezh, Kazanka-M are much more spacious, stable and safer, especially if fishing takes place on a large lake or reservoir. Although there is no need for an engine for fishing, since it’s somehow not customary to go fishing when driving on low gas, on a motor, as fishermen do abroad, it is often necessary to go many kilometers to the place of fishing along large spaces and smooth surfaces of reservoirs. And on the oars it will be tiring and long.
For fishing from a boat in a plumb line, you can use side fishing rods or fishing rods for ice glittering of pike and pike perch. But, in my opinion, for such fishing, a simple one-handed spinning with a jig nod at the top or some kind of spring guard is best suited. The nod should be designed for heavy bait and at the same time accurately and sensitively show all the touches of the bottom and fish to the bait. Retractable nods from a flat spring from an army cap proved to be quite good.
With a spinning rod, albeit short, there is no need to bend overboard to fully work with gear. In addition, when using a spinning rod and reel, even the simplest inertial one, when fishing, the fishing line will neatly fit onto the reel, and not onto the stitches anyway, then turning into a dense “beard”. Also, the reel helps to catch large fishes, etching fishing line with strong jerks.
Sheer fishing lures are matched to the conditions at the fishing spot.
For fishing in strong currents and deep water, the heaviest and largest lures are required. It can be heavy and at the same time chasing “vibration”. Ordinary "spoons" and similar spinners will be very corkscrew. It is better to put oscillating trihedral baits, pilkers, winter heavy and narrow baits, castmaster, a heavy jig with the landing of a cut fish or a whole tyulka. Massive mormyshka of the “uralka” type with planted tulle are also used. This is usually the most successful bait for autumn pike perch.
For slow alloy fishing at shallow depths, ordinary oscillating baubles, which successfully caught a predator in the summer, are quite suitable. Large silicone baits have also worked well: vibro-tails, twisters, foam fish over 8 cm long. Winter baits, for example, balancers, are sometimes used. But all silicone baits that are suspended horizontally quite often twist when moving in the vertical direction, turning the fishing line into a spring. Therefore, in many cases, silicone baits are replaced by various rubber products that have exotic names: "octopus", "squid". These artificial cephalopods are even cut out of bright balls for holidays and parades. The appearance of these folk art products is similar to silicone baits, which are often used in spinner bait.
Often very effective are a variety of tandems or “trains”, in which the leading bait can be a heavy jig with a silicone bait, and above all kinds of hooks, flies, streamers, wabiks and other lures for a naive predator. But it happens on another fishing trip that there is nothing better than a homemade spinner from dark tin already, on the hook of which a piece of cut fish is planted. And, as already mentioned, zander is sometimes the easiest to catch on a heavy mormyshka with a tyulka on a hook.
At great depths and heavy baits
During fishing at great depths and on heavy baits, an active game of these baits is necessary, which can be achieved by energetic, short and sharp raises of the fishing rod up. Most often, for this in one-handed spinning fishing, it is enough to toss the bait with the tip of the rod. If you use the smooth pulls and lifts adopted in winter fishing, then even the best bait will stop playing when fishing at great depths. It will simply rise monotonously upward and also fall one, without deviating a millimeter to the side of the vertical axis of the wiring. Only short and sharp jerks, as well as the use of pause in the lower phase of the game. Often with a pause that is too long at first glance, the grip of an intrigued predator follows. But all these phases of the game and pause, the angler usually finds himself empirically.
But the smooth lifts of the bait are also used in sheer lures. First of all - during fishing for mormyshka or jig with "sharp", when using the tricks of the winter game with mormyshka. In addition, smooth lifts are possible for large and soft lures.
In sheer whitening, braided fishing line is most often used, which does not have extensibility, which means that it sensitively shows any bite at any depth. In addition, it does not stretch when the boat moves in an arc of several tens of meters of uncontrolled fishing line. With a braid, the tackle is sensitive and accurate.
