On a small river with a float and donka

Fishing with a float is a classic of Aksakovo fishing, known since ancient times. Probably, it was the largest number of fishermen who preferred float fishing, where both old and young can sit with a fishing rod by the small river or a quiet pond with weeping willows. It all started with that. Barefoot fishing childhood passed by many anglers with a mountain ash rod, then with a bamboo fishing rod, and then went fiberglass, composite rods and, finally, happened - coal took a strong place in the arsenal of anglers of all ages! I also got such a carbon-fiber flywheel. And I was pleasantly surprised by his ease. With a length of 6 meters, it weighed only 410 grams. After those seemingly cast-iron Chinese fiberglass sticks, it seemed like a miracle. Then, after a day of fishing with a glass six-meter, arm and shoulder ached, as after several rounds spent in the boxing ring ...

And this fishing rod became my friend and brother fishing in our small river, where the casting of my new fishing rod almost reached the opposite shore. In some places, of course. And I used it universally, which, however, is not included in the canon of a fly fishing rod. Meanwhile, it was very convenient on a small river, where often it was often necessary to change the rules of the game. Namely…

In the morning I sat in the sedge bushes and threw the bait to the fishing point, where the stream of the river was in contact with the border, beyond which the water was already lazy and circled in a leisurely round dance. Having pre-fed the place, I rather intensively plucked one or another roach for corn. There were quite weighty fishes. But as soon as the sun rose, and the mysterious dark water immediately began to peep to the bottom. The fairy tale and mystery disappeared. And the roach immediately went into a dark hole next to it, which could be seen even from the bursts on the surface of this hole. It remained to gather home or throw a fishing rod into the pit. But there immediately violated the gear system. In the course and depth, my fly fishing rod stopped working. Do not go home ">

I usually, without further ado, universally dispensed with the so-called “Salapin” porridge, where there are: four and a half measures of pearl barley, a measure of millet, measure of barley groats, one and a half measures of corn grits, a spoon of vegetable oil and a bag of vanillin. Boiled pearl barley, added millet. Barley and corn grits are poured into the finished porridge, unrefined vegetable oil and vanillin are added. Everything is mixed and steamed. You can improvise with the nuances of cooking, but in general, Mr. Salapin hit the nail on the head . Porridge works and smells, as they say - he would eat himself, but the fish need ... And to the "salapinka" you can add any ready-made bait.

Sometimes on a small river I use a bottom installation, which is called a " rocker ". Such a seemingly inappropriate outfit for a small river works well in quiet deep-water bays without currents, where various looped rigs with almost meter-long leashes work according to the principle of sparrows from a cannon. Usually I equip the installation with a spring light feeder weighing no more than 20 grams and two fluorocarbon leads. The hooks were as cyprinids on the “yoke” and left after an extreme trip to the crucian pond. This did not affect the stinginess of the other fish. At first, I was confused by the proximity of the hooks to the feeder, saying that cautious scavenger and roach would not fit into such a clumsy snap. But these doubts and fears were in vain. At times it even seemed that this strange structure in the form of a beam works better than any symmetric and asymmetric loops. At least in deep places with a weak current.
